Before Sacramento was renamed the Farm to Fork Capital, the city's slogan was The City of Trees. You see, the city has more trees per capita here than anywhere else in the world-and a good percentage of them in my South Land Park neighborhood are citrus.
We created this sidecar-inspired recipe right after we moved in to take advantage of our twice-a-year abundance of oranges from the two 50+ years-old orange trees in our backyard (one tangerine, the other navel).

Bourbon is the perfect partner for the fresh orange juice, and was the preferred cocktail spirit of my grandma who lived here in Sacramento. I used my vintage-inspired TWA cocktail stirrers in honor of her perfectly mid-century modern aesthetic.
Cheers to you, Nanny!
