When the days get hotter, I've only got one thing on my mind -salad! Unfortunately, that beautiful, big head of butter lettuce was the final bunch from this year's garden, last month. The lettuce always runs out before my salad days do.
May didn't just mark the end to my garden greens - I also had to say goodbye to my beloved 16-year-old cat, Bolvar, on Mother's Day weekend. His battle with kidney disease finally became too much. We came home from his final vet visit to find a gift from Chewy in our mailbox-a portrait of our baby cat, Sylvie. It was so thoughtful, yet bittersweet, as I posted on Threads.
The following Monday morning, as I sat at my home office desk, acclimating to not having my furry friend trying to jump in my lap or supervising my writing from the sofa, the doorbell rang. It was a beautiful gift of flowers and a condolence card from Chewy.
Not gonna sugarcoat it-I bawled at my desk.
I've never had this sort of empathy and care from any brand before. To say I'm a Chewy fan for life is an understatement.
P.S. If you haven't already started your own Chewy journey, I'm happy to share this 20% off coupon with you.
This Week's Low FODMAP Recipes
I've been working hard to get back into my healthy habits, which include limiting my Doordash intake, getting to the farmers' market (or getting a Farm Box delivered), and maximizing my cooking at home.
This has also meant I finally said goodbye to my terrible nonstick pan, and the aluminum pan that everything seemed to burn in. I replaced both with a Le Creuset nonstick frying pan, which has been awesome to cook with. It's ceramic-coated aluminum, so it's not as heavy as my cast-iron skillets (but it can't be used in the oven). I've been impressed with the ease of cleanup so far, and can't wait to try some of these low FODMAP recipes with it.
- Cajun chicken and quinoa skillet from Fun Without FODMAPs
- Low FODMAP chicken cacciatore from Dr. Rachel Pauls
- Low FODMAP Keto Philly Cheesesteak Skillet from Good Noms Honey
- Low-FODMAP Lemon Herb Skillet Chicken from Delicious as It Looks
I'll be back next week with some seasonal recipes to put those farmers market goodies to work!
