TGIF!
I’m spending my Friday at the Priceonomics conference here in San Francisco. But truth be told, there’s going to be some serious daydreaming about what I’ll be doing next Friday…
You see, I’m a longtime gamer. I’ve been playing video games since I was old enough to hold a joystick. And over the past 12 years, the majority of those games have been from Blizzard Entertainment. And this year we’re heading to Anaheim with some of our friends for their big fan conference—Blizzcon!
I’m incredibly excited about two days full of cosplay and geek speak at Blizzcon. But I’m also already planning what gluten-free snacks I’ll bring with me, and plotting out gluten-free friendly spots for dinner. Then, after Blizzcon, we’re going to Disneyland! It’s across the street from the convention center, so it’s a no-brainer. It’s also the one place I don’t stress about what to eat. They have so many gluten-free options and take it very seriously. I’ll be sure to take some photos so I can publish a gluten-free guide to visiting Disneyland.
Always Read the Ingredients
When you’re on the low-FODMAP diet, it’s important to always always always read the ingredients on anything you eat. Unfortunately, this goes for recipes too.
Over the past week, I’ve seen a number of recipes marked as low-FODMAP that decidedly were not. As in they contained onions or garlic level non-compliant. Not OK! that said, if you see butter in a low-FODMAP recipe, don’t panic. Butter is considered to be low-FODMAP. You can also buy butter that’s marked as lactose-free.
- One person you can always count on to be giving you truly low-FODMAP recipes is Kate Scarlata. I can’t wait to try out her Pumpkin Snickerdoodle Cookies (low FODMAP & gluten free) recipe.
- Also from Kate this week is a DIY low FODMAP & Gluten Free Waffle Mix. You might want to bookmark this to keep in mind for a gluten-free holiday gift basket.
- I’m a huge fan of bread pudding. This one looks great: Low FODMAP bread pudding with blueberries via A Less Irritable Life
- These Brownie-Bottom Pumpkin Bars look like the perfect treat for your Halloween party.
I also published my Paleo Chocolate Chip Cookies recipe this week. It turned out so well that these are the cookies I’m bringing with me on our Anaheim trek to share with our friends.
